Amcrest Dome Cameras IP8M - 2493EW Editorial Review
The Amcrest UltraHD 4K (8MP) Outdoor Security POE IP Dome Camera is a POE camera that requires either a Switch delivering at least 12V per port or an active POE injector. It has a frame rate of 15fps at 4k, and the operating temperature range of the camera is 30° C ~ +60° C (-22° F ~ +140° F) / Less than 95% RH. This camera has no zoom capability, and the 16x digital zoom is useless. The Amcrest Android app works well with the camera, and the video quality is good. Recording doesn’t start until after the motion detection event, and sometimes the camera completely misses the car because recording started too late. The motion detection works fairly well and is configurable, but setting up multiple detection regions doesn't seem to work correctly. The Pros of this camera are that the camera dome is easy to clean, the Amcrest View Pro app works well, and PoE works well with a TP-Link PoE Injector. The Cons of this camera are a multi-step process to mount the camera body and point the camera, no indication on the camera body, the part you need to move around, of how the picture will be oriented. Image processor chip, or something, didn’t keep pace with the higher resolution of the camera, recordings are blurred if something is moving through the video quickly, and it works poorly when logging directly into the camera using a PC.
