Everflo EF5500-BOX Editorial Review
The Everflo EF5500-BOX 5.5GPM 12V Diaphragm Pump is a demand pump that automatically shuts off when there is no demand. It is not designed for marine duty or for pumping flammable fluids in explosive environments. The pump should be connected to a 12 volt deep cycle marine battery, and not a 20 volt battery, as the latter might damage the pump. The harness should be rated for at least 20 AH, and have 12 gauge wire, which is the minimum wire thickness for a pump drawing 17AH. According to a customer, this pump has Viton seals that are required for pumps used to handle diesel, but the pump is not recommended for use with diesel by the manufacturer. Some customers had negative experiences with this pump burning out, leaking or not turning on. However, others liked the pump for its high pressure and efficiency.
