Answer: They click into the slot in the window and yes, the recessed 'stepped' triangle is spring loaded. -

Can you tell me what the depth is on these?
Answer: From the flange side resting against the window, it is solid 1/2 inch to the end of the fixture. Variances of no more than 1/32nd inch between at least 4 of them. My old broken stop was about the 1/2 inch.
