Smart Plug,Plastic,120V,4" L x 2" W

The Taco SP115-1 Hot Water Control is a device that learns hot water usage habits and programs itself or operates in pulse mode to save energy. It has a sensor placed on the hot water line, 2-3 feet from the water heater, and turns on the water pump only when hot water begins to flow through the line. There are two modes - Smart and Pulse mode. Pulse mode will run the pump on a cycle of 5 minutes on and 10 minutes off all day, every day and throughout the evening. The device recognizes trends that happen daily over a period of time and if one day or night is different many times, it won't make the same mistake again. It works well with plastic and copper pipe and will operate just as if you had a conventional timer. The Taco SP115-1 product information says the smartplug connects to any 110v outlet and can work with a tankless water heater. The reviews indicate that the product is a hit or miss since it can be wasteful in pulse mode and may not learn hot water usage behaviour as users expect. It needs a recirculating line installed by a plumber and a water pump (purchased separately). Users have found that it is best suitable for Consistent usage patterns like showers at the same time every day, or dishes being washed and laundry being done at the same time daily. However, some users have found that it's not worth investing in this product and have opted for a programmable timer outlet instead. Some users complained about the hokey strapping system for installation and the high price, while others highly recommend it as an alternative to a timer.
