It has an external power supply and a tendency for the front shroud to come loose, but overall it is the best fan the reviewer has ever owned. It was used to move warm air from a wood stove and was successful in doing that. It is versatile and can be used to circulate air in rooms, as a white noise machine, and for cooling. The design is great and it is worth the upgrade from the previous Vornado models. On the downside, it can be quite loud on high.
