The camera clamp depending on the diameter of the tubing of the object on which it is clamped, when used on a motorcycle, is sturdy enough but when used in a race car rollcage, the ballhead might not withstand any acceleration forces. This means that a better swivel adapter may be needed to adapt to the camera's tripod socket. The balls are smooth chrome, and the size of the mini-ball in the ball mount is about three-quarters to one inch in diameter. The minimum closure on the clamp is about 1/2 inches when fully closed, so it may not work on a 1/4-inch tubing. The clamp is designed for regular full-size cameras with a 1/4 inch by 20 thread standard screw attachment at the camera's bottom, and not an iPhone or iTouch. The plastic part of the plastic version is the dog bone section between the clamp and screw on the mount. The T-bar is removable by removing the entire bar with all the thread and replacing it with a small one. According to the reviews, the ball on the clamp base tends to unscrew easily and can be locked with a removable thread locker known as blue loctite or nail polish to prevent it. The clamp is not designed for long-term installations in corrosive, saltwater, or marine environments without ongoing maintenance but is perfect for spotting scope mounted to roll bars. The single lever control design makes it difficult to adjust the angle conveniently, and one has to tighten it hard to retain its position. It is made from quality materials and shipped promptly, and it gets the job done as expected.
